China Executive Leadership Academy, Jinggangshan (CELAJ), approved by the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, is a national training base conducting education in the field of CPC history, Party building theory, revolutionary tradition and basic national conditions for Party and government officials, enterprise managers, professionals and army officers. It is administrated by the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee and Jiangxi Provincial Party Committee is in charge of its everyday routines.

CELAJ practices a system that the Executive Committee assumes overall responsibility under the leadership of its Board. The Board consists of 29 Party and governmental departments such as the Organization Department, the Publicity Department. The Secretariat of the Board is based in the Leadership Training Bureau of the Organization Department of CPC Central Committee. Li Yuanchao, member of the CPC Political Bureau, secretary of the Secretariat of the Party Central Committee, and the Minister of the Organization Department of the Party Central Committee, assumes the post of CELAJ President; Wang Xiankui, the deputy-secretary of Jiangxi Provincial Party Committee, the first vice president; Li Xiaosan, the executive vice president; Zhang Taicheng, Zhou Jintang and Zhang Younan, vice presidents. CELAJ, with a total faculty and staff number of 135, includes six functional departments: the General Office, Department of Teaching Affairs, Department of Training, Department of Teaching and Science Research, Department of International Exchanges and Program Developing, Department of Human Resources.

CELAJ, taking the theory of Socialism with Chinese characteristics as its guide, earnestly carries forward the academy mission of seeking truth from facts, keeping pace with the times, maintaining the style of arduous struggle and exercising state power for the people. It locates its academy function as “Two-Base and One-Station” (The two bases are the base for revolutionary tradition education and the base for national condition education; gas station for stimulating Party cadres to keep their revolutionary fervor), aiming at raising the overall quality and abilities of the leadership. To achieve this goal, CELAJ, with Party history, Party construction, Party spirit, Party tradition and Party style as its key subjects, taps to the full the revolutionary historical resources and regional advantage of Jinggang Mountains and its surrounding area to upgrade the political and ideological standards and governing capacity of the leadership at all levels. Teaching models such as long- and short-term workshops and learning-through-experience training programs are adopted. Besides, CELAJ encourages its faculty to learn from others’ advanced teaching experiences at home and abroad and keep exploring new methods and new solutions to leadership training. Ever since its establishment, efforts have also been made to develop it into a window for international exchange and cooperation.

CELAJ, nestled in the beautiful revolutionary cradle Jinggangshan, covers an area of 242 mu, with a floor space of 26, 000 square meters and a total accommodation capacity of 400 trainees. Its construction project was completed in 2004 and put into use in 2005.
