Wang Xiankui and Wang Xia’s Delegation Holding Discussions and Exchanges on Leadership Education and Training

On October 22nd, Wang Xiankui, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Jiangxi Provincial Committee and First Vice-President of China’s Executive Leadership Academy Jinggangshan met at CELAJ with the delegation led by Wang Xia, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Shanxi Provincial Committee and First Vice-President of China’s Executive Leadership Academy Yan’an, who was paying a visit at CELAJ. A symposium was held on the topics of both Academies fully playing their features and advantages on the education of revolutionary tradition and the fundamental realities of our country and further improving leadership education and training on “strengthening Party Spirit, reinforcing ideals and faith, maintaining good practices”. Wang Xiankui hosted the symposium, at which both parties conducted an extensive and in-depth exchange on the given topics. Yang Zhigang, the Assistant Secretary-General of CPC Shanxi Provincial Committee, Chen Yannan, the Executive Vice President of China’s Executive Leadership Academy Yan’an, Li Xiaosan, the Executive Vice President of China’s Executive Leadership Academy Jinggangshan and Vice Presidents of CELAJ, Zhang Taicheng and Zhou Jintang also attended the symposium.

At the symposium, Wang Xiankui extended warm welcome to Wang Xia’s delegation. Wang Xiankui pointed out that the “Decision” made at the Fourth Plenary Session of the 17th Central Committee of the CPC gave us a new mission and put forward new demands on leadership education and training and we deeply felt the great responsibility and glorious mission. China’s Executive Leadership Academy Jinggangshan and Yan’an, one lies in the Cradle of Revolutionary cradle, the other is located in the Holy Land of Revolution, share the same educational requirements and functional orientation. First, both academies adhere to the central government’s educational requirements of “seeking truth from facts, advancing with the times, struggling hard amid difficulties, assuming power for the people” and the functional orientation of “two bases, one station, one melting-pot, one window”. Second, both academies’ teaching resources are the revolutionary spirit and fine style of Chinese Communists. The fine tradition and style left by the older generation of proletarian revolutionaries in the Jinggangshan and Yan’an days is our common precious spiritual wealth. From Jinggangshan to Yan’an and from Jinggangshan spirit to Yan’an spirit, the revolutionary spirit of the Chinese Communists derives from the same origin and is related by blood. Third, based on the principle of seeking truth from facts, both academies have done well in detecting and taking advantage of the teaching resources so as to accurately present our Party’s historical facts, to show the essence of the revolutionary spirit and pass it along, to fulfill the aim of letting history tell the present, letting history inspire the future, carrying forward the tradition and forging ahead into the future and to rock the trainees’ thought, to baptize their soul and to sublimate their spirit. Fourth, both academies, as new-type state-level leadership institutions, are faced with the tasks of continuous innovation, improvement, reviewing and enhancement. Both academies should adapt to the new tasks in the new situation, learn to innovate teaching contents and methods and continuously improve the educational quality. The status of the academies is given by the central government and only by their academic strength and educational quality can they live up to that status. Fifth, the main classes ought to be carefully built up around the overall working situation of the nation and the Party and the academies’ functional orientation. Both academies are meant to effectively carry out the sacred obligations given by the central government so as to make greater contribution to leadership education and training for the Party.

Li Xiaosan made an introduction to CELAJ’s developing process, basic working principles and the chief work it had done, etc. He said that the academy always adhered to several principles these years. These principles include to maintain the strategy of grasping the general situation before practicing step by step; to insist on running the academy according to the national standards; to stick to running the academy in an open and democratic way; to uphold establishing the academy with distinguishing features, promoting the academy with innovation, strengthening the academy with talents and to remain committed to reinforcing the construction of the academy culture. Mr. Li also proposed specific plans to further strengthen exchanges and cooperation between both academies.

Wang Xia said that after visiting Site-Memorial of the August 1 Nanchang Uprising, Jinggangshan Revolutionary Martyrs Park, Jinggangshan Revolutionary Museum, Huangyangjie Sentry Post, the former residence of Mao Zedong in Ciping, the Little Jing Red Army Hospital and other CELAJ’s teaching sites, attending and observing two classes and paying a visit to the campus facilities, she was deeply impressed by CELAJ with its “deepness, fineness, liveliness and freshness” which indicates that CELAJ’s work on detecting historic materials is deep, that CELAJ is meticulous in carrying out all kinds of work, that CELAJ teaching style is lively and attractive and that CELAJ teaching management and curriculum design gives people a refreshed feeling. China’s Executive Leadership Academy Jinggangshan and Yan’an have many things in common. Both academies are faced with the same tasks and pressures. She suggested that all three leadership academies including CELAP should have regular exchanges and cooperation and continuously push forward the collaborative development.

The ten-people delegation led by Wang Xia conducted inspections and investigations at China’s Executive Leadership Academy Jinggangshan from October 21st to 23rd.
