Li Yuanchao stressed an in-depth study and practice of the scientific outlook on development to offer a powerful driving force for building a strong higher education in his discussion with the college party committee secretaries and presidents at CELAJ. |
Xinhua News Agency, August 8th, Mr. Li Yuanchao, Member of Politburo of the CCCPC, Member of the Secretariat of the CCCPC, Head of Organization Department of the CCCPC held a symposium at China’s Executive Leadership Academy Jinggangshan and listened to advice on in-depth study and practice of scientific outlook on development and strengthening Party building in colleges from Party committee secretaries and presidents of the CCCPC-managed colleges. He pointed out that we should maintain good working on the study and practice of scientific outlook on development in colleges from the beginning to the end, should establish and perfect the long-term mechanism, strengthen and improve Party building in colleges so as to offer a powerful impetus for promoting the scientific development of colleges and accelerating the steps to climb up the higher education ladder.
Li Yuanchao fully acknowledged the marked results achieved in the colleges’ activities of in-depth study and practice of scientific outlook on development. He said that these activities in colleges are in the rectification and implementation phase, that the agreements formed in these activities, the clear thinking and the proposals moved should be carried out and that the colleges should uphold a scientific outlook on their development and be built into high-level ones with their own features. He also maintained that we should adhere to the socialist road to run our schools, grasp the laws in college development and talents cultivation, further deepen educational reforms in order to bring the structure of talent cultivation in line with the structure of social needs, liberate our minds, update our concepts, adjust the talent evaluation mechanism and find out, value and cultivate talents in a larger range so as to better promote scientific development, build an innovation-oriented country, educate high-level top-notch talents of creativity and high-quality professional labor personnel.
Li Yuanchao pointed out that we should strengthen the construction of college Party organization and the team of Party members with the spirit of reform and innovation, convert the Party’s political and organizing strengths into the advantages of colleges’ scientific development, arm the Party leadership with the theoretical system of socialism with Chinese characteristics, especially the scientific outlook on development, educate the faculty and students with the socialist core values, uphold and improve the president responsibility system under the leadership of the Party committee, systemize the department-level work of Party organization and the operation mechanism, strengthen the building of grass-roots organizations especially the work of faculty branches and actively develop new Party members among outstanding young teachers and morally and academically excellent students.
Li Yuanchao said that the colleges’ Party secretaries and presidents should act according to standards for a socialist politician and educator, strengthen their Party spirit and improve their abilities to run a school and that they should try to win the respect from the faculty and students with their personal integrity and rich knowledge. In this way, not only can they become qualified college leaders but also they would arouse sincere admiration in both the teachers and students and become their examples of life.
